An intimate gathering with the Huni Kuin and Yawanawá families, two full nights of Uni (Nixi Pae) ceremony, sacred song, and ancestral prayer, held in a private jungle sanctuary just outside Tulum.
Two Ceremonial Nights
On January 29 and 30, 2027, the Huni Yawa family will hold two standalone nights of Uni / Nixi Pae ceremony in Tulum.
Each night is a complete experience. You may join one ceremony or both, and you may choose separately whether to participate in the morning practices.
This is not a retreat. There is no accommodation or multi-day retreat programme included. The exact private location will be shared only with confirmed participants.
The gathering is an invitation to meet living Indigenous traditions through prayer, sacred songs and ceremony, held with intimacy, responsibility and respect.
Dua Ninawa Huni Kuin
Dua Ninawa Huni Kuin is the Cacique of Xikuiurumim Village, a musician and a guardian of the sacred songs, prayers and ancestral medicines of his people. Rooted in the lineage of Pajé Tume and teacher Ibã Sales, he carries a living connection to Huni Kuin culture and knowledge.
Through music, Ninawa transforms ancestral wisdom into sound. Each song becomes a bridge between the village and the wider world, between inherited memory and the present moment.
Having completed traditional dietas and deep studies in the sacred songs of his people, he walks with responsibility, strength and sensitivity in the work of keeping these traditions alive.
A composer and multi-instrumentalist, Ninawa brings together the power of his voice, original melodies and the spirit of the forest. Through his music and presence, he shares the spirituality, healing and living memory of the Huni Kuin people.
Wanu Yawanawá
Wãnu Yawanawá is a young musician and dedicated student of the spiritual traditions of her people. Born and raised in Mutum Village, in the Yawanawá Indigenous Territory of the Brazilian Amazon, she began walking this path at an early age.
She has undertaken several traditional dietas under the guidance of Pajé Tatá and continues her studies with her aunt Hushahu at Centro Awavena, following the path of the sacred medicines with sensitivity and responsibility.
Gifted with music since childhood, Wãnu was among the first young women in her village to bring Yawanawá songs to the guitar, creating beautiful new melodies while remaining rooted in her tradition.
She is the creator of INIA, a musical project through which she shares Yawanawá culture, medicine music and ancestral knowledge with audiences around the world. In 2024, she recorded her first album, marking a new chapter in her journey as an artist and cultural voice.
What to Expect
Two all-night Uni / Nixi Pae ceremonies led by the Huni Yawa family, followed each morning by optional traditional practices and a shared breakfast.
Uni / Nixi Pae
Each night runs from 10 PM until approximately 6 AM, guided through prayer, sacred songs and ceremony.
Morning Practices
At 7 AM, participants may join Rapé, Sananga and Kambo. Hapaya follows at 8 AM.
Shared Breakfast
After the morning practices, we will close with a simple shared breakfast and time together.
Sacred Songs
Traditional chants and prayers are shared as living expressions of memory, spirituality and community.
Private Setting
The ceremonies take place in a private natural setting in Tulum. The exact location is shared after confirmation.
Flexible Participation
Join one night or both. Morning practices are optional and should be chosen according to your body, experience and health screening.

No. Previous experience is not required. We welcome participants who come with respect, openness and a sincere willingness to learn. Every gathering is guided with care and adapted to the group’s rhythm.

This immersion is intended for adults seeking an authentic encounter with Indigenous culture, sacred traditions and community life. Whether you are beginning your journey or have years of experience, what matters most is your intention and presence.

The retreat is held primarily in English & Portuguese. Translation into Spanish (and other languages when possible) is available throughout the gathering.

To preserve the intimacy of the experience, participation is limited to approximately 15 guests.

A detailed preparation guide will be sent after your application is accepted. Comfortable clothing, a journal, personal essentials and an open heart are all you need.

Wholesome vegetarian meals will be prepared throughout the retreat, respecting the atmosphere of the gathering and supporting participants during the experience.

RAFA CAMARGO

Cultural Producer, Filmmaker & Co-Organizer
Rafael “Rafa” Camargo is a Brazilian cultural producer and filmmaker who has spent many years working alongside Indigenous communities of the Brazilian Amazon.
He is the president and guardian of Instituto Aldeia Montanha Sagrada, based in São Paulo, and the founder of HAUXFILM, an audiovisual platform dedicated to documenting and sharing the cultures, stories and living knowledge of the Amazon through photography and film.
Through national and international cultural projects, Rafa supports Indigenous artists, leaders and families in bringing their voices, music and traditions to wider audiences with respect and integrity.
As a co-organizer of the HUNI YAWA ceremonies, Rafa supports the relationships, cultural production and coordination of the family’s journey to Mexico.
