A Rare Opportunity
It’s the first time that the HUNI YAWA family travels to Mexico.
This intimate gathering offers the opportunity to spend four days living alongside their traditions through songs, ceremonies, conversations and community life.
Rather than a workshop or retreat in the conventional sense, this is an invitation to participate respectfully in a living cultural tradition carried across generations.
Dua Ninawa Huni Kuin
Dua Ninawa Huni Kuin is the Cacique of Xikuiurumim Village, a musician and a guardian of the sacred songs, prayers and ancestral medicines of his people. Rooted in the lineage of Pajé Tume and teacher Ibã Sales, he carries a living connection to Huni Kuin culture and knowledge.
Through music, Ninawa transforms ancestral wisdom into sound. Each song becomes a bridge between the village and the wider world, between inherited memory and the present moment.
Having completed traditional dietas and deep studies in the sacred songs of his people, he walks with responsibility, strength and sensitivity in the work of keeping these traditions alive.
A composer and multi-instrumentalist, Ninawa brings together the power of his voice, original melodies and the spirit of the forest. Through his music and presence, he shares the spirituality, healing and living memory of the Huni Kuin people.
Wanu Yawanawá
Wãnu Yawanawá is a young musician and dedicated student of the spiritual traditions of her people. Born and raised in Mutum Village, in the Yawanawá Indigenous Territory of the Brazilian Amazon, she began walking this path at an early age.
She has undertaken several traditional dietas under the guidance of Pajé Tatá and continues her studies with her aunt Hushahu at Centro Awavena, following the path of the sacred medicines with sensitivity and responsibility.
Gifted with music since childhood, Wãnu was among the first young women in her village to bring Yawanawá songs to the guitar, creating beautiful new melodies while remaining rooted in her tradition.
She is the creator of INIA, a musical project through which she shares Yawanawá culture, medicine music and ancestral knowledge with audiences around the world. In 2024, she recorded her first album, marking a new chapter in her journey as an artist and cultural voice.

During these days, the HUNI YAWA family shares their songs, ceremonies, knowledge and way of life through an intimate gathering rooted in the living traditions of the Huni Kuin people.
Traditional Practices
Throughout the gathering, participants may also be invited to experience traditional offerings such as Nixi Pae, Rapé, Hãpaya, Kambô and Kene, according to the rhythm of the retreat and the guidance of the family.

OUR HOME IN THE JUNGLE
Nahku Tulum
For four days and three nights, Nahku will become our private home in the Tulum jungle.
Created for retreats and intentional gatherings, the property brings together handcrafted Mayan-inspired domes, communal living spaces and places for ceremony, rest and connection with nature.
This is not a conventional hotel experience. Nahku is an intimate, solar-powered sanctuary where the group can slow down, share meals, move through the retreat together and remain close to the natural environment throughout the journey.
STAYING AT NAHKU
Accommodation is distributed between four private domes and Casa Ketzal, the community house at the heart of the property.
Each dome has its own character, with curved architecture, natural finishes, jungle views and a private bathroom. Casa Ketzal offers a more communal experience, with three bedrooms, shared bathrooms, a yoga loft and common living areas.
Some accommodations will be shared. Room allocation will be organized according to availability, individual needs and the order in which bookings are confirmed.
The Mayan Domes
Four handcrafted, solar-powered domes surrounded by the jungle. Each dome has a private bathroom, natural textures and its own individual design.
Casa Ketzal
A spacious jungle home created for community living, with three bedrooms, two shared bathrooms, a yoga loft, kitchen and indoor and outdoor gathering areas.
THE MÀLOKA
At the heart of the retreat is Maloka Kin, Nahku’s covered ceremonial and movement space.
Surrounded by the jungle and built with a traditional palm roof, the maloka offers a protected yet open connection with the natural environment. Its central fire creates a place for the group to gather through music, prayer, movement, silence and shared moments throughout the retreat.
The space will hold the central experiences of our journey together.
LIFE TOGETHER
The property also includes Chiit Kitchen, an open communal kitchen and dining space where we will share our meals, tea and everyday moments as a group.
Surrounded by jungle grounds, outdoor gathering areas and a cenote-fed plunge pool, Nahku allows the retreat to unfold as one continuous experience, without the separation and distraction of a conventional hotel setting.
Everything is held within the same private property, allowing us to move naturally between rest, nourishment, ceremony and community.

No. Previous experience is not required. We welcome participants who come with respect, openness and a sincere willingness to learn. Every gathering is guided with care and adapted to the group’s rhythm.

The immersion is designed primarily for adults. If you would like to come with a child, please contact us before booking. We consider family participation individually and confirm accommodation, supervision and the arrangements for the child in writing.

The retreat is held primarily in English & Portuguese. Translation into Spanish (and other languages when possible) is available throughout the gathering.

To preserve the intimacy of the experience, participation is limited to approximately 15 guests.

Your participation includes three nights of accommodation, meals, ceremonies and cultural sharing led by the HUNI YAWA family, sacred songs, translation and an integration circle. Participation in any individual traditional practice, including Hãpaya or Kambô, is voluntary and depends on individual preparation and the family’s guidance. Optional private sessions are arranged separately.

The immersion takes place at Nahku Tulum, a private retreat property near Tulum, Mexico. Confirmed participants receive detailed directions and arrival information before the gathering.

A detailed preparation guide will be sent after your application is accepted. Comfortable clothing, a journal, personal essentials and an open heart are all you need.

Yes. The retreat includes accommodation for three nights in a peaceful natural setting.

Your three-night stay is included. Nahku has domes, Casa Ketzal, The Ark and seasonal glamping tents; some sleeping arrangements are shared. YURA assigns rooms according to the final group and individual needs. If a private room or a particular arrangement is essential for you, please speak with us before paying. A specific room is guaranteed only when confirmed in writing.

Wholesome vegetarian meals will be prepared throughout the retreat, respecting the atmosphere of the gathering and supporting participants during the experience.

No. Participation is voluntary. The HUNI YAWA family guides the practices according to their traditions, and individual participation is discussed in advance. The daily schedule is an outline and may adapt to the group.

If you cancel within 15 calendar days of your first payment, before the immersion begins, you receive a full refund.
After 15 days, voluntary cancellations receive credit instead of a cash refund: 100% of the amount paid if you cancel at least 60 days before the immersion, or 50% if you cancel later. If we fill your place with another approved participant, we increase your credit to 100%. Credit is valid for 18 months from the immersion date.
If YURA cancels the immersion or changes its dates, you can choose a full refund or credit. Please read the full cancellation policy before booking.

Flights, airport transfers, personal expenses, travel insurance, optional private sessions and private childcare are separate unless your written booking confirmation expressly includes them.

Ariê is a musician, founder of Yura, translator and the bridge behind the family's work in Tulum and beyond. For the past ten years, he has walked closely many spiritual leaders from the Amazon, helping create communities and spaces where the medicine, the songs, and the lineage can be met with intimacy, beauty, and responsibility. Through Yura, he weaves together ceremony, hospitality, cultural respect, and human connection. He is also a dedicated student of indigenous dietas and Pano-Amazonian cultures.

RAFA CAMARGO

Cultural Producer, Filmmaker & Co-Organizer
Rafael “Rafa” Camargo is a Brazilian cultural producer and filmmaker who has spent many years working alongside Indigenous communities of the Brazilian Amazon.
He is the president and guardian of Instituto Aldeia Montanha Sagrada, based in São Paulo, and the founder of HAUXFILM, an audiovisual platform dedicated to documenting and sharing the cultures, stories and living knowledge of the Amazon through photography and film.
Through national and international cultural projects, Rafa supports Indigenous artists, leaders and families in bringing their voices, music and traditions to wider audiences with respect and integrity. His work creates bridges between Indigenous communities and the wider world while honoring the sovereignty, knowledge and cultural identity of the people he collaborates with.
As a co-organizer of the HUNI YAWA Immersion, Rafa supports the relationship with Wãnu Yawanawá and Dua Ninawa Huni Kuin, as well as the cultural production and coordination of their journey to Mexico. His experience and long-standing relationships help ensure that this gathering is created with care, responsibility and respect for the traditions being shared.
